His research and pedagogical skills have been widely appreciated. In recognition of his invaluable services in the field of science and technology, the Government of Pakistan conferred upon him the Sitara-e-Imtiaz in 2004. The Higher Education Commission of Pakistan awarded him the Best University Teacher Award for the year 2002. The Ministry of Science & Technology declared him the most Productive Scientist of Pakistan for three consecutive years i.e. 2002-2004. He was elected fellow of the Pakistan Academy of Sciences in 2006 and President Pakistan Botanical Society in 2009.
Prof. Haq has served on the Editorial Boards of Biologia; Pakistan Journal of Botany; Pakistan Journal of Biotechnology and Journal of Mycology & PhytoPathology (MYCOPATH). He is also member of the Advisory Board of the Pakistan Journal of Life and Social Sciences. He has been working as the referee for the international journals such as: Biotechnology and Applied Biochemistry; Biotechnology Progress; Biochemistry and Applied Biotechnology; Letters in Applied Microbiology.
Prof. Ikram-ul-Haq worked hard to establish collaborative research programmes between IIBT, GCU and several national and international institutions such as the Cornell University, Ithaca, New York – USA, Hebei Research Institute of Microbiology, HRIM, China, the Chouaib Doukkali University, El Jadida, Morocco, NIBGE, Faisalabad, NIAB, Faisalabad, PCSIR Labs Complex, Lahore, NARC, Islamabad.
Prof. Ikram-ul-Haq served as the Vice-Chairperson of the International Organization for Biotechnology and Bioengineering during 2007-2008. He is a member of the American Chemical Society and the International Association of Science and Technology for Development (IASTED). He has been member of the Technical Committee on Biomedical Engineering for the term 2003-2006.
Prof. Dr. Ikram-ul-Haq believes in the ingenuity of human mind. Thus, he endeavors to invest extensively in research which, according to him, is the best path leading to social progress.
